Salary structure — common questions
What share of gross salary is basic in Bangladesh?+
Most employers set basic at 50% of gross, with house rent at 50% of basic (25% of gross), and the rest split between medical and conveyance. The Labour Act does not fix one ratio outside the garment wage board, so companies follow their own salary structure.
Why does the basic salary matter?+
Overtime, gratuity, earned leave encashment, provident fund and festival bonus are all calculated on basic salary, so the split directly changes what an employee receives.
