Final settlement — common questions

What is included in a final settlement in Bangladesh?+

Unpaid wages for days worked, cash value of unused earned leave, gratuity (after five years of service), notice pay where the employer ends employment without notice, minus outstanding advances or loans.

How much notice pay is due?+

Under Section 26 of the Labour Act 2006 a permanent monthly-rated worker is owed 120 days' notice (or wages in lieu) when the employer terminates; others are owed 60 days. A resigning permanent worker gives 60 days' notice.

When must the final settlement be paid?+

Section 123 requires all dues to be paid within 30 working days of the date employment ends.
